The second 6G-RIC Advisory Board Meeting & Workshop took place on September 26 in the new showrooms and integration lab at Fraunhofer HHI at Lanolin Factory. Prof. Slawomir Stanczak, coordinator of the 6G-RIC Research Hub, welcomed the who’s who of the international 5G and 6G scene with more than 140 participants on site and virtually from afar. The interactive program’s guiding theme was „Technology Advancements for 6G: Where do we stand?“ Various presentations and panel discussions in parallel sessions were an elementary part of the event. The content focused on Microelectronics & PHY-Layer Technologies, Network as a Sensor & Digital Twins, Semantic Communication, Embodied AI & Trends in Computing, as well as System Architecture(s), Trends in Networking & Security.
Another highlight was the exhibition with twelve demos and a guided tour through our new 6G-RIC Integration Lab, where the latest research results of the 6G-RIC project were presented. The workshop concluded with a dedicated session titled „Beyond 6G-RIC“ that focused on knowledge transfer and the perpetuation of 6G-RIC as an incubator for startups, as well as new 6G applications in healthcare.
We are grateful for the valuable contributions of our experts from industry and academia. This exchange forms the basis for a common understanding of current challenges and future research topics. To exploit the research results in the long term, 6G-RIC is to be established permanently as a competence center. As an outstanding location for business and science, Berlin offers the ideal conditions for this. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, 6G-based applications are to be developed in close cooperation with industrial partners in order to bring about lasting changes in society. In addition to basic research, the focus will be on applications in the fields of health, automotive, robotics and AI.
