We are delighted to announce a research delegation from the Taiwan National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) 6G Program Office. The delegation visited us at our new Science Tech Space @ HHI in Berlin on 16 June 2023 to discuss current trends and promising research areas related to 6G. The visit included a joint workshop aimed at sharing interests and exploring opportunities for future collaborations. Professor Slawomir Stanczak, Head of the Department of Wireless Communications and Networks at Fraunhofer HHI and coordinator of the 6G-RIC, presented the strategic goals of the 6G-RIC and gave an overview of its achievements so far. Both sides showed a common interest in various 6G topics, including AI-based air interface for 6G, next generation MIMO, hardware development and signal processing for RIS, open 6G architectures and sustainable 6G networks. Following the talks, we presented several 5G&6G demos to our guests. These included:
– AI-based QoS Prediction
– Presentation: World’s First Long-range D-Band System with Analog Beamforming
– Predictive QoS for industrial multiconnectivity
– HHI Open Source Testbed and RAN xApp
The successful workshop served as a basis for sharing innovative ideas and coordinating common research interests. We expect that future collaboration between Taiwan’s NSTC 6G Program Office and Fraunhofer HHI will be significantly strengthened to to help advance the development of 6G worldwide.
